Solved: 10 Years ago RE: Crash

hey... it's not about question if I was wrong choosing Mac platform. the question is why FG steal people's money by selling a game that they PERFECTLY KNOW is not working on particular platforms!!! Right now it is not technical issue - it's fraud and by that I mean it's LEGAL issue of stealing money form my wallet!!! That's real background of this situation. I do not want to go into discussion "Mac vs PC". It's all about unfair trade. If you can picture this: you are buying diesel engine car (for no matter what the reason is), and then you finding out that its actually do not work at all... Is it buying another one that runs on gas/electricity/coal you name it, is a solution of your problem??? Or maybe the real solution is to go to the court because you was deeply mislead??

"There's a reason why most gamers use Windows over anything else, because it works. You have a solution right in front of you."

Again - that's not a solution at all - that's the way how to not to be screwed up by FG, but it's not a SOLUTION by definition.

"Either use it, or wait for the sleeping giant FG to wake up, and hopefully fix this mess."

Don't you thing they should pull down this game form app store till "morning"? Maybe I'am naive, but this sims to be FAIR....

cheers

You, Sir/Miss has got the idea. They should really take action soon. Better pull it before they get reported for fraud and banned.

Solved: 10 Years ago RE: Crash

Huzzah! I was able to bypass the crash and have provided a temporary solution in the simplest form I could think of - saved games. This is for anyone who purchased Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs for Mac OS X from the Apple App Store. Download the linked file below and follow these instructions.

1. Go to your desktop
2. Click on ‘Go’ in the menu bar
3. Select ‘Go to Folder…’
4. Type or copy and paste this into the text box:

~/Library/Containers/com.frictionalgames.AMFPLauncher/Data/Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/Amnesia/Pig

5. Inside the Pig folder you’ll see your profile folder containing your saved games.
6. Place the 9 save files inside your profile folder with your other saved game files.
7. Launch the game
8. Select your profile
9. Click ‘Load Game’
10. Select ‘1AutoSaveFactory - And so to The Stoking - 13/9-2014 13:13:24'
11. Enjoy! From here on out you can select 'Continue' just like normal each time you play.

NOTE: This saved game will place you just past the part where you run into the pigman under the church (the crash part). Normally, right after seeing the pig, he walks over, you sneak past him and exit that level. This loads at the next level’s beginning so you’re only missing about a minute of gameplay.

The game's AI might be jacked up but it's outsmarting me so this is the best workaround I got. I went ahead and played through the rest of the game, providing saves past each hang/crash I encountered. I named some of them 'ManualSave' to show that these particular saves start mid-level. You'll probably get stuck at the same places I did so if/when that happens just load the next numbered save.

Ninamori (aka Kappa) has kindly archived all the saves you'll need together into one easy download. Thank you!

Solved: 10 Years ago RE: Crash

So i wrote an email to Apple asking to have my money back, which they gave me. I told them to pull it off the app store and the guys told me he had flagged it for ivestigation and that it would be pulled if there was any consistent problems. This might force them to finally fix the game.

TL/DR: Got my money back after i spoke with apple. Game is now flagged for investigation.

Good. As much as I love FG's games it's no excuse to be selling a broken product, and outright ignoring the problem.

I'm really glad I didn't pay for AMFP now.

It's a bit of a hassle to change saves, but it's definitely better than nothing. What you can do is put all the saves in 1 zip file, then just give them out as a pack so that people can easily change to the next save without having to download another and place it in the folder.

The "ManualSave" part, I'm guessing you edited that? If so, you can maybe edit them to be "ManualSave-Piston" for example, and so forth with them so that people know which order they should start them in.

Yea. I archived them all into one file but there were uploading troubles so they'll just have to stay separate. Strange, it's only 5 MB of 10 MB allotment. I did go back and give them better labels though. And you're right, I did purposely edit some of them to be 'ManualSave'. It's really just to show that save is loading at a random spot in the middle of a level.

You could just upload to Mediafire, or something similar, and link to it. AFAIK there is no rule against that.

EDIT:

Here's my good deed for the day...
