I really think it´s too early to speculate about the game...

Personally though, I expect the game to be more occult-oriented than the science-fiction-ness of Penumbra.

I'm hoping that in true Lovecraftian fashion, the fantasy will turn out to be science fiction.

It most likely will - there isn't much excitment to be had all alone in a castle, except with strippers.
