Using the Linux version under Windows
Hi,
I just bought the Penumbra Collection for Linux, and made the mistake not to try the demo first. There are heavy graphical glitches, and it's slow as hell (despite that, generally, 3D works - but it's still not very mature as it seems; I'm using the radeon driver with a R500).
Is there a binary for Windows available? So that I can use the datafiles of the linux version together with the executable of the Windows version?

Try turning of compiz(or equivalent) before running the game and see if that removes the glitches. There is no binary for Windows available that we can give as that right is with a publisher.

RE: Using the Linux version under Windows
I'm already running compiz. I think a new graphics driver is the only thing I can hope for. It's a pity that there are no windows binaries, but I understand that it's not possible to provide one. Thanks for your answer

Oops, my mistake, I read "turn it on" . I tried, it didn't have any effect

RE: Using the Linux version under Windows
It's not that old, it´s the chip in the Xx00 series if I'm not mistaken
Try to get the latest drivers available and do all the steps in this thread to hopefully get rid of glitches,

RE: Using the Linux version under Windows
If you're using the "radeon" (open-source) driver, try the official closed-source driver from ATI (fglrx). Also be sure to turn off Compiz before you start the game.
The various Linux drivers for ATI cards aren't very good, so if you must buy the Windows version of the collection instead, it's 50% off this week on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/1451/

RE: Using the Linux version under Windows
I am also right now finishing building up and testing a new patch for the linux version, that should resolve a number of ATI and sound issues. Watch the sticky thread in the linux forums for when I release the patch in the next day or 2. but yes, please ensure you are running the FGLRX drivers otherwise things don't work correctly.

RE: Using the Linux version under Windows
I can't use the fglrx drivers as I'm using a Radeon X1400, for which ATI has dropped support. I'll try that patch when it's out, thanks for the hint
