1.0.1 Patch available

I tried installing it to the steam amnesia folder but the folder's have different names. Frictional folder is something like "Amnesia - The Dark Descent" whereas steam folder is "amnesia the dark descent" which I imagine cause some problems with the auto-patch. I tried renaming some stuff anyway to see if I could get it to work and then the game became unavailable entirely. When I checked for integrity, all files were said to be missing and I had to reinstall the game again.

WHy can't we official answer from someone involved with the game testing/patching/development? Its been now nearly a week since the patch came out and steam owners of the game still dont have it or know whats going on. Please tell us whats the situation? Thanks.

Is that the prison level right? Why did you do this? If it's the prison level, the reasoning for opening the floor gap was obvious with relation to the story.

I'm pretty sure that's just some inconsistent phrasing in the changelog. A clearer wording might be: "Player could just through the gap in the floor without widening it. Prevented this from happening."

I told the developers, but the x1400 in a dell e1705 still does not work with this patch. The stock Dell driver is incompatible with the game. I found that the third party drivers by omegadriver.net works with the patch.

The stock Dell driver's probably out of date compared to the reference drivers. ATI's drivers frequently balk at the prospect of installing to laptops, so I will second the recommendation to install the Omega Drivers if Nvidia or ATI's installers act persnickety.
