Yeah, adaptations that are exactly like the source material they derive themselves from are pointless. Case in point: Silent Hill. Very good movie (for the first half of it) but it is almost exactly like playing the first Silent Hill videogame and I would rather do that than watch a movie about it. Personally I am most interested in Daniel's past and his former occupation as an archaeologist (presumably?). The excavation in Algeria that we've only read about would make a great film I think.
Like someone else in this thread said, the ideal ending point would be the "titular quaff" (lmao, I can just imagine how it would be in an Amnesia isometric RPG; "<quaffs a potion>. Daniel has gained Amnesia.
") so that the movie doesn't just rehash imagery from the game or worse, change the events entirely.
