Download latest drivers from intel download load center and perhaps try that without modifying any files.

I guess Windows 7 x86? Right? Also, intel 965 is a motherboard chipset and not a graphics card. Most probably you have an Intel gpu and that's why you are having problems. If you cannot find your computer information type at start dxdiag and you will find everything there.

EDIT: I saw you solved it. Yes, never change the files and if you do always keep a backup.

it is an old game and the first one from FG, back then...like 3 peoples work. So, no...I think this is great work.
