Well that's interesting. How come your lucid dreams are more frightening than your normal ones? I'm always glad when I manage to get lucid in a dream because then I know nothing is real. I can just fly away from frightening situations or confront them with a clear head if I feel like it - sometimes I can even change the whole scenery at will if I really hate being there. In any case, it means the frightening part of the dream is over...

I think he/she means sleep paralysis, a "bi-effect" of lucid dreaming.

Imagine yourself in your bedroom really tired because you didn't sleep for more than 24 hours lying in your bed. Then imagine your bedroom starting to move around, shades of people moving around, a necrotic environment coming up and you still in your bedroom, in your bed, without being able to move and having no clue what's going on.

Today I dreamt the life I could live forever. You only know that when you feel it for you know not what you like until you've experienced it.

That's sleep paralysis. Lucid dreaming is when you consciously realize you are in a dream and can change it at will.

That means that if I'm in a lucid dream I can do whatever I want?
For example: Spawning a lot of drugs, spiderman and other various s**t?
Does that mean I can spawn people I don't like and then destroying them?

RE: Nightmare thread

I had a period where I had zombie apocalypse nightmares almost every night, but thankfully that's over with. My worst nightmare ever was something completely different though - I wrote it down and I actually posted it on another board so I'll just copy>paste it.

Quote:Me and my family (parents and brother) are out at night, all dressed in
winter clothes. The wind is hard and cold and leaves the skin feeling
like something scratched it. We're at the beach, where the sand is
coarse and dry and glitters like a billion pieces of grey-toned glass.
The waves crash into the shore, the water foams and looks like it
explodes on the shore, yet it feels gentle. A ghostly purple light falls
on everything.

Hundreds of other people are gathered together,
all in tightly packed winter clothes. In the sky, behind a few soft
looking clouds, the moon looks enormous and terrifyingly near. There are
huge cracks and chasms on its surface, and it looks like large rocks
are falling from it, into the water in the distance. The sound of the
waves is ever present, but so is the sound of people laughing. My
brother points towards some people flying enormous, intricately designed
and beautiful kites. We run up to them and watch the wind tug at them
as the people flying them struggle to keep on their feet. Some of the
kites get torn to shreds by the razor winds, which looks spectacular against
the black, starry sky. There are "whoa"s and "ooh"s from the crowd.
The surf keeps crashing into us.

Someone yells "look", and
everyone looks at the moon. A yellow light comes from behind it, similar
to how an eclipse looks. It becomes brighter, and a great rumbling
sound starts and keeps increasing in intensity until the sound is felt
throughout my bones and shakes my lungs to the point they start to hurt.
I can't bear it anymore and I lie down in a fetal position with my face
in the sand.

Suddenly, there is complete silence and I feel like
I'm aware of the whole universe, the stars and planets and nebulas.
Then there is, not a sound, but the opposite of a sound, it feels like
all sound is sucked into one spot and disappears. I "feel" to the point
that I can see, a shock wave from an exploding moon tearing through the
universe turning entire star systems into tiny pieces of rubble.

Everything
goes dark and silent, but I still feel sand underneath my feet. The air is
strangely warm and thick, around me there is only complete black. I sit
up on my knees, and I ask "hello?". The sound doesn't seem to carry
through the air, it feels flat. There is no reply in the darkness. I
ask again, "hello?" and wait a few moments. Still no reply. I realize
everything is gone, only I am left.

And then I wake up with the most desperate feeling I can ever remember having.

That was a few years ago and it was the last nightmare I had, thankfully. Now I just have weird dreams where I invent a time machine to go back in time to the cretaceous period and bury pizza in the ground to mess with my friend who is a paleontologist - his face as he finds fossilized pizza is priceless!

RE: Nightmare thread

So at college, I have a shelf on the wall above my bed that I use to store my phone at night. I put it there so I can reach it when the alarm goes off. No problems so far.

Tonight, I decide to play SCP Containment Breach. I am terrified, but it's a damn good game. I can only take it for so long, and I fear-quit when I get stabbed by SCP-106:
