I checked creative's site for the sound card mentioned at the log and the latest driver should be v1.02.0061 (XFXATHX_PCDRV_WIN8_LB_1_02_0061.exe).

Yes, it's not the latest. Also, it might be corrupted or something. Creative's drivers and support are among the worst things ever(personal experience).

Also, have you tried resetting the AMD control panel settings to defaults? (Obviously with AVG disabled while troubleshooting). I hope it's one of those two things just mentioned because I'm pretty much out of ideas afterwards.

Hey man I understand as am I, your support is greatly appreciated even if we didn't key it in, I'll try these last 2 things now.

Yeah no luck, guess I can just hope I'm not the only one having this problem on release and it gets fixed. Just weird PR told me I'm the only dam person having issues as bad as I am.

Well it must be something else that is very hard to pinpoint then. Either a) an operating system setting/program interfering b) a rare game bug or c) hardware incompatibility (such as crossfire causing problems or such). Most probably the first though.

If you have any other pc maybe you could play/record the game there and then render it at the current machine.

I can't think of absolutely anything else. If anyone else has something to suggest, feel free to do so! Wink

pluto bit thanks for trying so hard with this.

draegast last thing I can think of would be some sort of permission problem, possibly from some corruption. Coult try to check the hard drive for system file errors or to make a new user account to see if that helps. Sorry we are MIA, but it is a weekend and we worked quite many weekends lately so I think we all needed a break in preparation for Tuesday!

I think this support for how to check the drive is useable even if not using vista, http://windows.microsoft.com/is-is/windo...for-errors .

edit: fixed broken link

Jens is right, it could be a hard drive issue. Of all the hardware problems only the HDD can show such problems(CPU & RAM cause BSODs usually). So, try checking the drive for system file errors (Automatically fix file system errors). Then, make a temporary new Windows account and try launching steam again.

A thought that I had at first was that steam was crashing the game because it's not supposed to be out yet. But then I thought that most probably you were given a special pre-release steam game code so that shouldn't happen. I don't know how these things work so I never mentioned it.

Yes in my purchases it says something along the lines of Amnesia early access that was my first assumption I got a normal code by mistake lol.
