You said previously that using the stutter fixed .exe the game now works and you can start a new game. So is there any other problem after that? Does the game start successfully? If not, after the problem occurs attach the file HPL.log again to see if anything changed.

I can use the stutter file to play the game. I haven't tested it past a few seconds into the cinematic (I've been a bit busy).

Going back to the original file (via Steam), I cannot start a new game.

Alright, when you have time to test the game follow these instructions and report back:

That way you will have the latest stutter fixes and done a file integrity check.

I think I know what's wrong now.
  1. Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
  2. Under the General tab click the Set launch options... button.
  3. Make sure it's empty. Most probably it says -windowed now.

That's great! Urkle came up with the idea! Smile

Just out of curiosity, did you add that at some point but couldn't remember or did the game come with that from start?

I added that before I first started it up (though I guess the more proper way would have been to just do that in-game). I planned on streaming it, so I decided to put it in windowed mode before I even opened it up so I could look at my stream and the game simultaneously to make sure it was working properly. Even re-installing didn't remove that setting, which I would have assumed would have happened.

It's weird that the game was programmed to somehow take in a string from that input that isn't even part of the game (but a part of the Steam client). But I guess the best thing to do is to just let people know to change into windowed mode in-game instead of trying it outside of the game.

Thanks again!

The steam client makes this string part of the game. It adds -windowed to aamfp.exe (aamfp.exe -windowed). The game does not accept such an input and problems occur. Anyway, have fun with the game! Smile
