Anything but 2011. If you want to work on it for Frictional Games Mods, don't use anything later than 2011. Otherwise, good luck! ^^;
Maya's for real men btw. So is Max. So really, both are. Maya is just over complex, sometimes. Great for animation, not so great for modeling (or so I've heard, which is what I'm going to believe).

RE: Modeling/Art non-related to Amnesia
A bit off-topic but Does maya and 3ds max have shortcut only transforming like in blender available? those arrows are slow, unprecise and get in the way in my opinion

RE: Modeling/Art non-related to Amnesia
In Max the shortcut X hides the transform gizmo. Translation is then locked to the last axis or axes used. Did you mean that?

RE: Modeling/Art non-related to Amnesia
I meant that first you press grab(move)/scale/rotate and then you press the axis you want to move in (x/y/z) and drag the mouse or input a number(fx you could press 9-0 to rotate something 90 degress).
The ability to use 2 axis at once is also pretty essential which in blender is done by pressing shift and then the axis you dont want to transform in, fx to move something in XY it would be shift+Z.

I meant to use Blender with Maya presets to get a line of how-to do stuff in Maya later. Tere are plenty of tutorials out there.
