I have the same error when I try to run Amnesia:

The launcher detects video device as GDI generic (I got the "the card is not listed, assuming medium settings" information when I hit the "detect" button). Its unlikely to be caused by an integrated graphic card, as I its disabled on the BIOS level and only the AGP card is detected by the system.

I'm using a bit old ATI Radeon X1600 Pro card under Windows7 OS, but this should still be good enough to run the game in normal resolution (1024x768). I tried all the possible solution from the trubleshooting guide (reinstalling the drivers, resetting game settings), but it doesnt help. Is there anz other waz to force the game to detect the graphic card properly?

I played this game for a while with zero issues, put it down for a month, and now that I want to play it again, it keeps crashing with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors [Specifically: Amnesia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module Amnesia.exe at 0023:00498A35]. The game starts fine, but whenever I try to go from the Study to the Back Hall, for example, the game just hangs on a black screen. When I CTRL+ALT+DEL out, I get the black box message. It also happens when I try to save and quit. Since last playing error free a month or so ago, the only change I've made is I updated my graphics card drivers when I had issues with a different game.

None of the trouble shooting tips seems to work. I turned off V-Sync.

I don't understand why it would be working fine before, but now it's just falling apart.

A save before entering Study, because new update changed or removed some of the entities and save tries to load them.

You're making me re-play the Storage area. Thanks a lot...

But so far it has seemed to work. Gone through multiple loading screens (in and out of the Study) and it hasn't crashed yet.

I keep getting this message
Amnesia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module <UNKNOWN> at 001B:0000000 when I just got the game.
I've read through the forum and to be completely honest, I don't understand crap about changing my driver or anything.
So if someone can walk me through exactly what needs to be done that would be great so that I can actually play this game. Thanks a bunch.
